Stylish Picnic Table Setting

07/08/14, by Becky Cunningham

Even if you don't have a deck or patio, it's still possible to have a stylish area for outdoor fun in your backyard. Keep in mind cheap paper plates and cups are no picnic. These days you can find stylish plastic plates that look great and hold up to outdoor use.

Start by placing the patterned plate on a solid bright charger for an extra dose of style. I'm not a fan of plastic utensils, so I chose a clear acrylic set and colorful fabric napkins (photo a). Festive drinks are always a favorite so make sure to serve them up in style. Create a "cocktail" for the whole family with a classic Shirley Temple (photo b).

  • Here's a favorite recipe we like to use: mix 3 ounces ginger ale with 3 ounces lemon-lime soda. Add a splash of grenadine, and top it off with maraschino cherries.

Finally, don't forget to set the mood by adding a bit of light and a few cut flowers from the garden. We chose these stylish outdoor lanterns and kept the bouquet simple with a clear glass vase (photo c). This picnic-table combination is sure to be a hit!
