Valentine's Gift Wrapping

02/10/14, by Megan Steenson

A great wrapping job can be just as exciting as receiving a special gift — it tells the person you put a lot of time and thought into what you are giving. And what better way to show your loved one how much you care than with a personalized message to greet them from the start? Take a look at these clever wrapping techniques and sweet embellishments — they're sure to impress your Valentine.

Valentine Wrapping

a) Customize a Gift with Game Tiles. It often just takes a few simple additions to make a present memorable. The letter tiles on this package, for example, spell out a sweet sentiment. We started by wrapping a box and its lid separately. The lid was wrapped in grid paper, which we used as a guide to place Scrabble game tiles. After gluing those in place, we tied the package with ribbon and added a faux butterfly.

b) Paint a Charming Chalkboard Tag. A clever tag like this would bring a smile to any recipient's face. It's easy to make using a wooden heart and chalkboard paint. To create the tag, we just drilled a hole through the heart and applied tinted chalkboard paint. When the paint was dry, the surface was ready to be written on with chalk.

c) Create a Fun Photo Gift Embellishment. Adding photos or notes to a gift package has never been simpler. You can just use miniature clothespins to clip them in place. To dress up this present, we secured a ribbon around the sides. Then we wrapped string over the top so we could clip on the clothespins.
