Salvaged materials can offer lots of stylish possibilities for home decor. In this case, some brick blocks became a stunning wine rack. The blocks' diamond-shaped centers were the perfect size to hold wine bottles.
Custom Salvage. The masonry blocks that we found were glazed on one side, which gives them a fun pop of color. You can leave blocks like these natural, or use a mini-roller to paint them in any color you would like.
Although they were a little worse for wear after years of service, these blocks were still sturdy enough to repurpose. In many cases, an aged and weathered look will actually enhance the appearance of your finished piece.
Once we had planned out the configuration for our wine rack, we cut a base from sheet material. This base will help hold all of the blocks together.
After attaching the first brick block, we continued to adhere the blocks to the base and to each other. We used construction adhesive to connect these parts. (It's important to choose adhesive that is suitable for use on masonry.) When the adhesive was dry, it was time to put the new storage piece to work!
