Cut a Clean Opening with Your Jigsaw

Many projects call for a hole or an opening in the middle of the piece. No tool does this more efficiently than a jigsaw.

Smart Start. First, you’ll need an entry point for the jigsaw blade. That’s easily accomplished by drilling a starter hole that’s large enough to insert a blade into. If you’re cutting a circle, you’ll need one starter hole (left). If you’re cutting a rectangular opening, drill starter holes at opposite corners, and then cut all four sides.
